Background:
OCD Trio was a side project I did with some friends from August 2010 to December 2010. Members include: Eric Olson - Guitar/Vocals. John Carey: Bass Guitar. Paul Davis: Drums. The name OCD came from our last name initials (O)lson (C)arey (D)avis. Even though somedays I feel a bit OCD, it has nothing to do with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ;-)
The song was written August/September of 2010. When writing/performing this tune it was a very healing experience for me. I'm not going to get into any specifics because every listener relates to different songs in their own way but I hope you get something out of it.

"Blood Diamond" Words and Music by: Eric Olson. Genre: Acoustic Folk Singer/Songwriter. Background: I wrote this song In the Spring of 2009. I had this overwhelming anxiety that my life was going to fall apart come Autumn. Not sure why or how but this song came out of me during that anxious time in my life. Also, I was listening to a lot of Nick Drake at the time and was obsessed with the "drop D" sound on an acoustic guitar. Throughout most of the song I drone between the low 6-D and string 4-D.

"Lady Jane" Words: Eric Olson. Music: MA EGO. Song Background: I wrote Lady Jane about an old forgotten actress who's career went south after some bad life decisions she made on her way to fame. Lauren sings her story beautifully while her brother Mark plays a catchy hook over sexy minor 7 chords.
A little about the band: Ma Ego was a band project I did with Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Mark Anderson between 2009 and 2010. It's an album of all original work. "Toymaker's Workshop" By: Eric Olson. This is a composition I did for a Composition class at Columbia College Chicago. It's a duet I wrote for flute and cello in Spring of 2009. I wanted to write a humorous piece and I asked myself what would a Toymaker's Workshop sound like? In different sections of the song the toys come alive and are clumsy wandering around and playing in the workshop. Listen for it. Performed by Constance Volk on flute and Jared Scott on cello.
